Model Railway Collection
Model Railway Collection of Villa Garavelle, about 1 km from the center of Città di Castello, proposes some models of trains that have marked the history of the Italian railways.
There are various models, fully functional, made by the Marquis Gioacchino Cappelletti between 1920 and 1960. Villa Garavelle since 1963 was intended, according to the will of the Marquis who was the owner, to accommodate the collection that the number of specimens and attention to detail make it unique into Italy. The collection consists of over 150 models in 1:20 scale and 1:40 scale. Among the various models on display there are the beautiful Gr 735, Gr 746, four Gr 691, Gr 680 a, a Marklin alcohol, a Ra 241 and a 2244.
Among the electric locomotives in 1:20 scale, the first series of E 428, E 554 and E 360 (two-phase) are the coupling of three beautiful vintage trains.
In 1:40 scale, there are two steam locomotives, two electric locomotives and 428 of the first series, three E 360, E 554 five, a trainset ETR 200, seventeen passenger cars of various types and age and over eighty wagons.
Also on display are some models of steam engines for agriculture.
